Our Mission
DC325 is the Abilene chapter of the DEF CON Groups—a grassroots insurgency of cybersecurity enthusiasts, hardware hackers, and digital cowboys riding the dusty trails of West Texas. We exist to foster a no-BS space where n00bs and old salts swap exploits, build gadgets, and probe the shadows of the net. Our creed: Disrupt the status quo, one seized line at a time. Inclusive, irreverent, and always on the lookout for the next 2600Hz hum.
From potluck CTFs to midnight wardials, we're here to ignite curiosity in the heart of the Lone Star State. No gatekeepers—just open ports and open minds.
Our History
Born in the backrooms of Abilene's tech underbelly in 2018, DC325 started as a ragtag crew of phone phreaks inspired by the DEF CON legacy. What began with a single BBS node and a stack of 2600 Magazines has grown into a monthly ritual of rebellion. We've weathered ESS switches, dodged the Feds (metaphorically), and celebrated every breakthrough with a round of virtual eggnog.
2018: The First Dial
Founding phreaks seize the first trunk line. Initial meetup: 5 hackers, 3 modems, infinite dreams.
2020: Pandemic Patch
Go virtual—Discord becomes our switchboard. Remote war-dials keep the fire lit.
2022: Hardware Revival
Back in the flesh: Library lockdowns lifted. First phreak box build-off draws 20+ outlaws.
2025: Frontier Expansion
Current ops: Monthly meets, student outreach, and eyes on SS7 exploits. The line's always open.
Our Values
- Open Source Everything: Code, knowledge, and coffee—share freely, hoard nothing.
- Inclusivity Over Elitism: Every n00b's a potential legend. No tolerance for gatekeeping.
- Ethical Edges: Hack for good, probe with permission. We're rebels, not reckless.
- Community First: From Abilene to the ether—build bonds stronger than fiber optics.
- Fun in the Frontier: If it's not sparking joy (or a little chaos), unplug it.
Live by the line, die by the dial tone. Questions? Patch through.
